Adult Recreation

Adult recreation offers year round recreational opportunities at various levels of competition.  We have pickleball, softball, volleyball, as well as open gym opportunities.

Open Gym

We offer open gyms from November - March at various sites throughout the distinct. 

  • Open basketball is at South Campus on Wednesdays nights
  • Open volleyball is at North Campus on Wednesday nights
  • Family fun time is Tuesdays and Thursdays at Oneka Elementary

Participants must provide photo identification at all of our open gym
sessions to the Gym Supervisor. 

There is a suggested donation fee for all our open gyms.

The Oneka gym offers fun for your whole family (6 months - 12 years)! A parent/guardian must supervise children at all times.

Ages 6 mos-6 yrs  enjoy refining their coordination, large muscles skills and sensory development with riding toys, basketball, bowling and more. A separate area is set up for ages 0-2. 

Ages 7-12 yrs  enjoy a multitude of activities and an assortment of gym equipment available for individual or family play.

Normandy Park Open Gym

Families can enjoy activities set up in the gym. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children. Ages 6 mos-5 yrs - before kindergarten

Pickleball

  The White Bear Area Pickleball Club runs year-round.

  Membership Required:  Starts January 1 and expires December 31
  Club Dues:  $15 for district residents / $20 for non district residents

Skating Rinks

White Bear Lake School District has both indoor and outdoor skating rinks. 

We do not have skate rentals for any of our rinks.

 


All ice rinks are closed for the season.

Indoor Rink - Hippodrome

The Hippodrome Ice Arena is the indoor ice rink operated by the WBLAS Community Services and Recreation Department. The Hipp is not a full size ice sheet, it is roughly 2/3 size of a standard rink.

The Hippodrome is located directly in front of Central Middle School at 4855 Bloom Ave.

Open Skating

We do not have rental skates available.

Stars the first weekend in November 3, 2018.

Outdoor Rinks

We have outdoor rinks at Sunrise Middle School, North Campus High School, and Hugo Elementary.

Warming houses and rinks will be closed if the wind chill temperature is -15 or colder.

Volleyball

Get your friends together to play adult co-ed volleyball! Teams play 6 v 6 with 3 men and 3 women.  This league is a self-officiated recreational league.

Walking Club

What is the Walking Club?

It is a fun and social opportunity for walkers of all ages and speeds to enjoy possibly the best indoor walking facility in the area. The White Bear High School North Campus circular design makes and ideal location for uninterrupted walking. The best part about the Walking Club is that it is FREE. Just come by yourself or with friends during the specified times and start walking.
